Imagining our Post-Pandemic Futures

The global pandemic has human rights actors rushing to address rapidly changing needs and demands. From health care, food, and sanitation to digital surveillance and heavy policing, the challenges are many. At the same time, this shifting terrain has created opportunity. Demonstrations of community solidarity and the embrace of social protections that not long ago seemed impossible are now reality—but a better world will not build itself. This Up Close series explores the glimpses this pandemic has provided of what a better future could look like, and asks just what kind of human rights practice is needed now to get us there.
